Skimming, external corners, window revels

if skimmimg, over spound old plaster walls, would you skim and use the metal edging on the exteral corners, or skim, and use a external trowel to create the joint? cheers

Answer
Metal thin coat/skim beads are always easiest, however they do give a sharp edge, so if you prefer a softer more rounded corner then you could try doing it freehand - either with a corner trowel or for an even more rounded corner use polythene to run up and down the corner to smooth out. However this can be very time consuming!
