Backing for patching in lime plaster

by Doug
(Mid Wales)

Hi - I've got a patch of about 30cmx30cm lime plaster that has come away from the wall. THe house is around 1840 and stone construction. What should I use as a backing coat? The plaster is stripped back to the stone and it is an external wall.
Thanks.

Answer
Lime plaster would be ideal, however you may end up having to buy a whole bag of lime!
