Skimming Old External Corners

Hi Paul, Thanks for your online plastering school...it's very helpful and refreshing to have an expert not say 'plastering is too hard...get a professional'

I have a few uneven/damaged walls to skim but had a question about external corners.

From the picture, would I need to use skim bead over this?

Answer

Hi James

It is often possible to utilise the existing wooden bead - by feathering the plaster almost to nothing where it meets the old bead. Keep the plaster as thin as you can and it may just work. The benefits are that it gives a nice rounded corner that will be in keeping with your walls.
