Seem to get tears and like lines in both 1st and second coats, not sure if I am flattening too soon, tried to get trowel angle between 10/15mm, if you can help. Thanks

Tears would indicate it may be too dry - so moisten by flicking water onto it. Also ensure your trowel is clean and smooth.
However lines would indicate it may be too wet - or too uneven, so a little more info may help.
